What data this blog collects, why, and what you can do about it. Last updated: October 25, 2026.

Who is responsible

This blog (blog.jbearp.com) is run by Jean Pierre Arenas (“JbearP”), in Colombia. For anything related to your data, write to me at this email address.

What I collect and why

1. Visit statistics

To know which articles are read and improve the blog, when you open a public page your browser sends me:

  • the page you visit, the date and how long it stayed visible;
  • the website you came from (only its domain, e.g. “google.com”);
  • your device type (mobile, tablet or computer) and browser;
  • your approximate location (country, region, city and that city's approximate coordinates), estimated from your IP address with the ip-api.com service.

Your IP address is not stored: only a pseudonymous identifier (a hash) derived from it, from which the IP cannot be recovered, used to count unique visitors. These statistics are my own (no Google Analytics or other trackers), use no cookies, exclude bots, and are automatically deleted after about 13 months.

2. Cloudflare and content delivery networks

All traffic goes through Cloudflare, which protects the site against attacks and speeds it up. It may process your IP address and set strictly technical security cookies. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Some libraries (icons, alerts) are loaded from the public CDNs jsDelivr and cdnjs. When your browser downloads them, those services receive your IP address, as with any website.

3. When you contact me or support the blog

If you write to me, I receive your address or number and your message, and use them only to reply. If you support the blog via Bre-B, your bank shows me the name associated with the transfer. I never sell or share this information.

4. Radio

The radio only sends the song being played. It does not collect personal data.

Cookies and local storage

The blog uses no advertising or tracking cookies. The only ones are Cloudflare's technical security cookies and, only for the administrator, the login session cookie. The radio remembers whether it was playing and its volume in your browser's local storage; that information stays on your device and is never sent to me.

Where the data lives

The blog relies on hosting, database and network providers (in addition to Cloudflare, jsDelivr, cdnjs and ip-api.com, mentioned above) whose servers may be located outside Colombia, mainly in the United States. They only process the data to run the blog.

Your rights

Under Colombian data protection law (Law 1581 of 2012) and, if you are in the European Union, the GDPR, you can ask to know, update, correct or delete your data, and withdraw your consent. Since I don't store IP addresses, statistics are not linked to your name or any data that directly identifies you; for anything else, just write to me.

I answer inquiries within 10 business days and claims within 15 business days. If you are not satisfied with the answer, you can file a complaint with Colombia's data protection authority, the Superintendencia de Industria y Comercio (SIC).

Changes

If this policy changes, I'll update it on this page with its new date.
